Expansion of Kobe Beef Export A slaughterhouse has been opened, only 10 km from the Isoda Farm.

On April 23rd, “Wagyu Beef Meister Slaughterhouse” has been opened to exclusively process meat for exporting overseas.

This slaughterhouse is able to handle meats to export the U.S. and Europe where food sanitation standards are generally high. This is the first slaughterhouse built in Hyogo prefecture to be able to meet those high standards.

People are hoping that this house will help expanding beef export as the demand for “Kobe Beef” increases overseas.


Kobe beef has been exported since February, 2012, according to the Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association.

About 400 heads per year are being exported since then, however there was no slaughterhouse in Hyogo prefecture to meet the high standards to process meat.


The house is 5 stories with total of 12600㎡. It can process maximum of 200 heads per day. The fridge can hold about 500 carcasses. Hanging bars are placed higher than the normal height for sanitation purposes.
